Teemu Asunmaa, 35, along with his co-driver Ville Mannisenmäki, 27, are forced to retire from Cbet Rally Rokiskis in Lithuania due to a technical fault. Asunmaa was running third overall after day 1 with a Skoda Fabia N5+ prepared by Samsonas Motorsport.

Asunmaa was third fastest on the first three and four in the last of the day’s stages against a field of R5 cars. The event has started positively with the new Fabia N5+. Technical problems hindered Asunmaa’s opening day.

-We had some troubles with the turbocharger on SS2. Luckily the next service was right after, and we changed the turbo, but we are still missing some low-end torque.

Asunmaa is competing with development in mind and is not putting any specific goals for Sunday.

-We’ll go as fast as we can. The car has been great to drive.

On the Sunday’s first stage Asunmaa was struck by bad luck and the Finn was forced to retire due to technical fault.

-Our rally ended prematurely due to technical issue on the opening stage. It’s part of the sport unfortunately. Overall, the experience was really positive, and thank you to Samsonas Motorsport for that.
