Asunmaa’s Secto Friday was an eventful one – “We had all sorts of moments”

Teemu Asunmaa and co-driver Ville Mannisenmäki are running 12th in WRC2 at the Secto Rally Finland after Friday. The reigning Finnish champion’s day was overshadowed by a puncture on SS7 – Saarikas 2. The Skoda Motorsport Finland -driver hit a rock buried in the deep ruts and lost two minutes changing the tire on stage.
-It wasn’t an easy day; we had all sorts of moments. The puncture on Saarikas was one of those, and we lost a lot of time on Laukaa 2. The stage was on a very rough condition by the time we arrived, the deep ruts were full of standing water and mud, so there was a lot of time lost on the stage. Still, we had a few good stages with times quite close to the lead, Asunmaa recapped.
The day-ending Harju special stage provided some extra excitement, as the Skoda-driver tapped a concrete barrier bending a wheel. The evening’s service contained both fixes to the tire, and some setup changes for tomorrow’s six stages.
-I scratched a wheel to a concrete barrier on Harju bending it a bit, but it’s nothing our service can’t fix. Also, a few setup changes to be made as well. With them, we’ll attack the stages tomorrow and try to improve, Asunmaa summed up.
Secto Rally Finland continues Saturday, August 3rd with six special stages and 144,22 special stage kilometres. The rally is streamed live on Rally.tv.
