Skoda Motorsport Finland’s Teemu Asunmaa and co-driver Ville Mannisenmäki are ninth in WRC2 in the Secto Rally Finland after three competitive days. Asunmaa started Saturday in P12 after having a puncture and changing a wheel on stage losing two minutes in the process. Big gap to the front meant that Asunmaa focused on a clean and safe day on the stages near Jämsä.
-Our rally turned a bit into cruising after yesterday’s puncture. We drove carefully on the first pass as the stages were mostly new to us. On the second pass, showers of rain came just in time for us down the order in WRC2. There was supposed to be no rain in Ouninpohja 2, yet a heavy shower started just as we got underway, Asunmaa laughed.
Secto Rally Finland concludes tomorrow with four special stages. Despite a lengthy gap to the category leaders, rally driver is as rally driver does; gap to P8 is just 2,3 second and the battle is on.
-We’re set out to enjoy the stages tomorrow. Sahloinen-Moksi is a great stage, and Laajavuori is an oddity overall. Even though driving for P8 isn’t worth much, I’m sure we’ll have a good battle with (Benjamin) Korhola for it, Asunmaa said.
Secto Rally Finland concludes on Sunday, 4th of August, with four special stages and 41,66 special stage kilometres. The rally is streamed live via Rally.tv.
