Teemu Asunmaa, 34, along with his co-driver Marko Salminen, 42, are competing in the WRC3 category in WRC Secto Automotive Rally Finland. The rally held in Jyväskylä is Finland’s second WRC event of the season as well as a 70-year celebratory event for the rally. Asunmaa won the WRC3 category in the last Finnish round of the championship and is looking for a solid performance from Jyväskylä.

-We’re feeling good heading to Jyväskylä. Our goal is a solid rally and a good result. We’ve won one WRC3 event already, so we wouldn’t mind a second one.

WRC Secto Automotive Rally is held later than usual. Traditionally the rally has been held in August, and thus the conditions differ from Asunmaa’s four other outings in Jyväskylä. Asunmaa isn’t too worried of the differing conditions.

-The later date most likely won’t affect too much. There’s a bit less light, there won’t be issues with dust and the temperatures are lower than during the summer. We’ll be driving in dusk, but we have experience with it and did so just last weekend in Kokkola. Of course, the stages are new and more technical than in Kokkola, but we have great Lazer lights for the night so darkness won’t be an issue.

The three-time FRC SM1-championship winner prepared for the second WRC event of his season in conjunction with preparations for the FRC finale. Different conditions as well as higher starting number have an effect on the setup of the car.

-We left almost directly after Kokkola’s season finale towards Jyväskylä, so we tested last week also for the WRC event. The car needs to be stiffer, have a higher ride height and different in terms of handling than in Kokkola as most of the stages are driven twice and the risk of grooving is high. We have a good rhythm from Kokkola and no unnecessary. We’re feeling good going to Jyväskylä.
